“The Black Panther party’s ideals greatly contrasted with those of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They were much more willing to resort to violence when it came to the fight for civil rights. The party felt African Americans should respond to conditions in the United States by arming themselves against “the terror, brutality, murder, and repression of black people.” They would have to forcefully respond to their attacks because the peaceful demonstrations seemed not to gain the results they needed.”
